How do worms grow new body parts?

Worms can be cut in half and still survive--but not always. It depends on where the worm gets cut.

As you probably know, a worm’s body looks like a bunch of segments. A worm can survive as long as the first 35 segments are not harmed. Actually, a worm can even survive losing some of the first 10 segments, as long as it doesn’t lose too many. The worm simply re-grows the segments.

However, when worms lose segments 10 through 35, it’s curtains for them.

In some cases, a worm can be cut in half and grow the other half back. But don’t try it. Just take our word for it. The Secret Agent Worms thank you.
