As you might guess from their name, night crawlers come out of the soil at night. They live deep in the soil, sometimes as much as 6 feet into the ground.
At night, they anchor their tails in the ground as they hunt for leaves and other debris on top of the soil. The night crawlers yank the stuff into their tiny tunnels. Dinner is served.
This is a handful of night crawlers. They’re very popular worms for fishing.
