In one acre of land, there can be more than one million earthworms! (An acre is a little bit smaller than a football field.) However, some of the things people put on their lawn, such as pesticides, can reduce the worm population.
People put pesticides on their lawns to kill pests like bugs and weeds. Unfortunately, some pesticides can also kill the good guys--worms!
