How do you measure muddy water?

Scientists have many different ways to figure out the muddiness of water. But one of the cheapest ways is to use a black and white “Secchi Disk.”

Simply attach a Secchi disk to a rope and lower it into the water until you can no longer see it. This distance tells you how muddy the water is.
